Episode 10: When Stories are Familiar

familiar stories

What should you do when the story you are writing seems similar to other stories, movies, or something you saw online? Should you scrap the story or continue to write it? Do you need to change everything about your character? Today, we are looking at what to do when your stories are familiar.

In this episode, I am explaining why you shouldn’t stress if your story is similar to another. We are looking at why most stories seem similar to others, what trope is and why it is used, and how to overcome mental roadblocks that may come along if your story is familiar. Are you still worried your story is too familiar? I am challenging you to look at your story and consider three different things before you decide if your story truly is too familiar.
